Accent on Achievement Book 3 - Baritone B.C.
Accent on Achievement, Book 3 — Baritone B.C.
The Third Year
Accent on Achievement is one of the best-selling band methods in America, and Book 3 is where it pays off. By this point your student is past learning which fingers go where and into the work that makes a real player: playing in every key, reading harder rhythms accurately, and blending into a section. This is the Baritone B.C. book — each instrument gets its own edition with parts written for that instrument, so what your student plays lines up with what the rest of the band is reading.
All Twelve Keys
Book 3 works through progressive technical and rhythmic studies and chorales in all 12 major and 12 minor keys. That is the whole point of the third book: a student who has only ever played in two or three comfortable keys is not yet ready for high school band literature. Book 3 also adds lip slur exercises for building brass range and flexibility.
Why Band Directors Use It
The full-color pages and the range of music — classics and world music alongside the exercises — are what keep students turning pages in year three, which is exactly when a lot of young players quit. Accent on Achievement meets and exceeds the USA National Standards for music education for grades five through eight. Written by John O'Reilly and Mark Williams and published by Alfred.
