Fun with Dick and Marilyn.

Posted by Kate on 7th May 2009 in Uncategorized

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood.  Dick and Marilyn were busy paying bills and bossing around their daughter,  the supremely smart, witty, beautiful, and underpaid Kathleen, when all of a sudden in walked a customer!

“Who could it be?!” shouted Dick (he was a little deaf and assumed the others were too).

“I don’t know,” mumbled Marilyn.  (She knew Dick was  a little deaf, and used this to her advantage).

“What?!” shouted Dick.

Meanwhile, Katheen, in her constant attempt to get a raise, approached the customer.

“I’m looking for something musical!” the customer exclaimed.

Kathleen knew this was her chance to show her parents she was worthy of a hefty salary hike.

“You’re in luck!” she exclaimed back (she knew the first rule of selling was to mimic the customer.  People usually like themselves best anyway).  “We’re a music store!”

So enamored with Kathleen’s skill and knowledge of the business, the customer proceeded to purchase 45435453453423783 dollars worth of goods and services, and everyone lived happily after.

It was a nice day.

And it could be a nicer day tomorrow if this actually happens.

Come see us.

The best thing about instruments

Posted by Kate on 7th April 2009 in Uncategorized

is that you don’t have to rely on network connections to make them work!  My computer has been out of commission since the SWAP. We’re not sure what’s been going on with the internet there, but it will be fixed soon!

In the meantime, I’ve commandeered the back office computer for my “very important” internet workings.

I said “Forget the bookwork! Put down that sales report! Taxes schmaxes! My readers need nonsense now (and a little alliteration).”

Believe it or not, we still have stuff! So come here and buy it! I really would like a larger writer’s bonus. Right now, the only bonus I get for this is that everyone leaves me a long for the duration of my rant. Ah. Sweet silence (and alliteration).

No, seriously, it’s time to start thinking about summer classes. You name we’ve got it. You want kazoo 101? Banjo strumming for the tone deaf? (you’re in luck with that one, because it’s a prerequisite).  How to trade your corporate gig for glitz and glamor of guitar gurus (and alliteration)?

We’re starting to take sign ups for the classes, so if there’s one you’re interested ask Marilyn, Teacher of All, and Boss to the Rest of Us, and she will guide you.

Still time!

We’ve been going gangbusters since this morning…but we’ve still got some sweet guitars left upstairs!

A couple of Strats that I thought would go first thing are still up for sale…come check ‘em out.

And in the spirit of things, if you still want to bring your guitar in to sell we’ll take it!  Only a few hours left!

Fender and Epiphone and Takamine OH MY!

Posted by Kate on 13th March 2009 in Uncategorized

Okay–my apologies for being so absent from this “oh so well loved BLOG,” but I have been (drum roll please) BUSY!

Yes folks, I have actually been too busy to sit here and throw up some words on our website. Guitars have been rolling in. Tomorrow should be super super fun.

We’ve got quite a smattering of instruments in all price ranges–and they’re all ready for new homes!

The SWAP is REAL and it is happening TOMORROW!  I haven’t’ slept for days (partially because I’m an insomniac, but partially because I really am THAT excited).

My father has finally lost it (don’t tell him I said that, or that I posted it on our website) and put super deals on just about everything in the shop, so even if you don’t go home with a new baby to strum, pluck, or slam, you can walk away with great deals on all your accessories.

See you at the SWAP!!!!!!

Confused?

Posted by Kate on 5th March 2009 in Uncategorized

So my folks think the SWAP might be a little confusing. We’re standing here salivating, waiting to grab your old stuff the second you walk in the door, but if you’re anything like us, you’re waiting until the last minute.

NOW is the time to bring us your stuff to sell…and the sooner the better! If we get it now, then we’ll have more time to organize things–and come on…you totally want us to look good, right? If we look good, your used stuff looks even better!  Also–the earlier you get it here, the more exposure it’ll get in advertising and in the shop!

So polish it up, put a piece of duct tape on it, rip it out of your spouse’s hands, forge a Hendrix signature, and get it on down here!

See you soon!

Give us your tired…

Your poor, your old dusty guitars, (or your brand new beautiful big money guitars that you’re ready or willing to part with) and we will sell them in our SWAP!

It’s here!  Starting this morning we are accepting guitars for sale in the SWAP.

It should be a good time!  I couldn’t sleep last night because I was so excited.  If you don’t get in here soon with your guitars I might nod off on the job and that’s never good…I don’t want to be fired before the big event.

See you soon!

GUITAR SWAP!

We are so creative here.   Not to brag.  Okay, yes to brag.  Totally bragging.  We are making our own commercial…please look for it and tell us how awesome we are.  Guess what it’s for!

Cabin Fever was a huge success!  The store was swamped!  If you missed it this year, definitely check out the wine event in the fall.  It’s an awesome time.

My mother told me to plug rock music books for band instruments.  We got some new ones in. They’re great.  Consider it plugged.  :-)

The Fever Rises

Posted by Kate on 18th February 2009 in Uncategorized

So, everyone around here has had “the sick.” (No, it’s not a euphemism and I could drop the quotes and the drama if I wanted, but come on, it’s late February– let me amuse myself).  For all of you who’ve had that nasty cold thing, we’re sorry, and drop the nose flute.  Please.

We’re happy and healthy here now, and we’d like to see you out and about on Friday for Cabin Fever.  The stakes are getting higher: live music, wine, and the Bargain Bin!!!

I have yet to see any Buck Owens shirts around here.  Do they exist?

BARGIN BIN!

Posted by Kate on 17th February 2009 in Uncategorized

Okay all,

This is my favorite day to be a Marich Musicite.  The BARGAIN BIN IS HERE!

Here’s the deal with the bargain bin: in it, we put all the stuff we thought would sell a while ago, but didn’t, and we mark it dirt cheap.

Oh yes, I am going home with a Broadway Diva karaoke book and CD.  I also really really want to sing like an American Idol, so I will be purchasing one of these super cool singing kits for 10 bucks!  They used to cost $50!  Now I can annoy my husband for only 10 dollars.  The amount of enjoyment I’ll get out of his annoyance transcends the 10 dollar price tag by about $23049238423.

To be fair, there are also some things that he’ll enjoy too..maybe I’ll come home with something to soften the singing blow–we’ve got bargain guitar strings, a half price PVM mic, and this really cool guitar repair kit.

You better hurry in, because I’ll be heading home with most of the stuff.

Tra la la la la,

Kate

Buck Owens Anyone?

Posted by Kate on 16th February 2009 in Uncategorized

Hi Faithful Readers (all 4 of you),

I’ve been receiving comments!  Yay!

Free set of guitar strings to the first person to come into the store wearing a Buck Owens shirt!

And another free set to the first person who posts a short bio of Buck Owens for the rest of us.

King Ferry Winery will be here for your tasting pleasure this Friday! Music too–if you hate the music, drink the wine.  If you love the music, drink the wine.  Either way, you’ll have fun.

The sentences in this blog are short.  So is my attention span.  Come visit.  Relax.  Shop.  Keep us in business.

Thanks!
